Kristi Lee
Kristi Lee created Canadian True Crime as a personal creative passion project in 2017.
She remains the primary writer, researcher, narrator and sound designer for the podcast.
Kristi was born and raised in New Zealand’s South Island. As a young teenager she lived in the UK for 18 months, before moving to Australia to finish high school and university.
In 2009, she and her husband relocated to Canada, where they’re now proud citizens.
When Kristi started Canadian True Crime, she was working full-time in marketing communications in Toronto’s financial district. She has a business degree but no qualifications or training in criminology or any related field.
She approaches each case as a curious outsider with an eye for detail, eager to understand Canada and the workings of the justice system through the open court principle.
Surprised when the podcast quickly found an audience, Kristi juggled it with her job for several years, working on episodes at night after her two kids were in bed. In early 2020 she left her 20-year career to work full-time on the podcast.
Kristi lives in the Greater Toronto Area with her family. She prefers to avoid the spotlight wherever possible.
